UPDATE: Blizzard Beach Water Park Closing Date Announced

Following the announcement that Typhoon Lagoon Water Park would be reopening at Walt Disney World, Disney has now announced a closing date for Blizzard Beach.

Blizzard Beach Closing Date Announced

A water park offers a thrilling daily recap with its towering slide, resembling a snow-covered mountain under a clear blue sky, surrounded by lush trees and rocky landscaping.

Earlier this morning, Disney announced a reopening date for Typhoon Lagoon Water Park. At the time that article was published, there had been no announcements regarding Blizzard Beach Water Park. Since then, however, Disney has updated the website calendar to reflect the park’s upcoming closure.

Blizzard Beach will now be closing all operations starting on May 1. May 1 is the same day Typhoon Lagoon is scheduled to reopen. Clicking on the daily schedule on the official Walt Disney World webpage, any date after April 30 now says “No Times Available.” Disney has not yet announced a reopening date, and the calendar continues to be blank through August 27, which is the last date currently visible online. However, the usual schedule for the water parks is for Typhoon Lagoon to operate during the spring and summer while Blizzard Beach operates during fall and winter, so it is likely they will keep that schedule in 2025.

This news comes shortly after Disney announced the 30th anniversary celebrations for Blizzard Beach, which will be taking place throughout the month of April. The celebrations will begin on April 1 and include special character meet and greets, live DJ dance parties, and new 30th anniversary merchandise. While it originally appeared Disney would keep Blizzard Beach open longer in honor of the anniversary, it now appears the celebrations will conclude at the end of April.

In the years following COVID-19 , Disney has been alternating operations between the two Walt Disney World water parks. When one water park opens, the other often closes at or around the same time. Blizzard Beach reopened in November of 2024, which was the same month Typhoon Lagoon last closed. Disney has also been offering Walt Disney World Resort guests free water park tickets on their check-in date as part of a benefit expected to last through most of 2025.

Are you excited to see Typhoon Lagoon returning for the spring, or were you hoping Blizzard Beach would stick around a little longer? Let us know in the comments.
