According to Variety, the live-action film will be available to stream exclusively on Disney+ beginning on March 26. Despite the movie opening to a rocky start, it ultimately grossed $709 million worldwide.

“Mufasa: The Lion King” is a prequel to the remake of “The Lion King,” which was released in 2019. The film was a photorealistic animated take on the original “The Lion King” animated film, which debuted in 1994.

“Mufasa: The Lion King” tells the story of how Mufasa, a lost cub, becomes the leader of the Pride Lands. After being separated from his parents, he befriends Taka, another lion, and the two of them “embark on a journey that eventually threatens their familial bond.”

Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote original songs for the film, including “I Always Wanted a Brother,” “Milele,” “We Go Together,” “Tell Me It’s You,” “Brother Betrayed,” and “Bye Bye.”
