New cabanas and a new dining pavilion are under construction at the adults-only beach of Disney Cruise Line’s private island, Castaway Cay. The additions have yet to be confirmed by Disney, but photos have revealed the project’s progress.

Castaway Cay Construction
The construction zone is in full view at the former crew member beach to the west of Serenity Bay, which is reserved for guests 18 years of age and older. The crew member area has been relocated to the east, near the observation tower.
There are currently only six cabanas available for rent at Serenity Bay (and 21 at the family beaches), but this project is rumored to add approximately 30 more. While a second family beach was added to Castaway Cay for the launch of larger ships, Serenity Bay has been operating at the same capacity since the island opened. The new cabanas and beach space will add much more room for cruisers to relax.
The basic frameworks for several new cabanas are in place. Large posts outside may support awnings. Piping is visible inside the cabanas. There are a few trees around the cabanas at the far end of the beach. The only construction vehicle visible during our visit was a forklift.
Behind the cabanas, a new dining pavilion is also under construction. Sources indicate this will replace the relatively small Serenity Bay BBQ.
Construction is right next to Castaway Air Bar and behind Serenity Bay BBQ.
