Nintendo has confirmed the release date for the previously announced live-action “The Legend of Zelda” film.

The release date was shared on the new Nintendo Today app, a news-focused app from the gaming company that debuted after the Nintendo Direct on March 27.

Prepare for an epic adventure as the much-anticipated live-action film of "The Legend of Zelda," brought to you by Nintendo, hits theaters on March 26, 2027.

According to the update, the live-action “The Legend of Zelda” film will be released theatrically worldwide on March 26, 2027.

First announced in 2023, the film will be directed by Wes Ball (“Maze Runner” trilogy, “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes”) and written by Derek Connolly, known for his work on the “Jurassic World” films and co-writing the screenplay for “Pokémon Detective Pikachu.” That being said, Connolly’s involvement was not announced by Nintendo, but by Deadline.

“The Legend of Zelda” film will be produced by Shigeru Miyamoto and Avi Arad, and distributed by Sony. Nintendo will-cofinance the production with Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc., contributing over 50% of the budget. No casting announcements have yet been revealed.
