Water Taxi Still Unavailable as Dock Refurbishment at Old Key West Resort Continues

The water taxi service running from Disney’s Old Key West Resort to Disney Springs is still out of service as work continues on refurbishing the resort’s boat dock.

A sign at Disney's Old Key West Resort states, "Watercraft transportation to Disney Springs is currently unavailable due to dock refurbishment. Please utilize the Disney bus service.

The water taxi service at Disney’s Old Key West Resort is known officially as the DVC Ferry. The ferry transports guests of the resort directly to Disney Springs. However, the dock at the resort has been undergoing major refurbishment since early February, so the ferry service is not currently operating.

Signs inform that due to dock refurbishment, the Disney Vacation Club Ferry and watercraft transportation to Disney Springs are currently unavailable. Guests staying at the Old Key West Resort are advised to use Disney bus services.

Multiple signs have been posted near the closed boat dock to warn guests that the ferry is not currently operating. Two of the larger folding signs have been posted directly in front of the dock entrance to prevent guests from entering.

The larger wooden sign to the left of the dock entrance has also been updated to say the water taxi service is “Not Operating at this time.” This new addition has been painted to match the larger DVC Ferry sign, with a sapphire blue border and stripes patterned like small waves.

It appears no major changes have been made to the dock so far, though the wood planks are a lighter color than previously. The old wood planks on the dock were a darker shade of brown after sitting outside for several years.

All of the handrails and ropes that usually line the sides of the dock have been removed during the refurbishment, though the yellow “Please Wait Here” line is still attached on the left side.

A notice for the refurbishment has been added to the official Walt Disney World website for the resort. The notice also states that the refurbishment is expected to last until early April 2025, though no exact date has been announced. While the water taxi service is unavailable, guests are required to use a resort bus to reach Disney Springs. Despite the refurbishment, the Sassagoula River Cruise service is still available to transport guests from Disney’s Old Key West Resort to Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort and the Treehouse Villas.
