Delta Plane at Orlando International Airport Catches Fire Before Take-off

A Delta Air Lines plane about to leave Orlando International Airport (MCO) on Monday morning suddenly caught fire.

Delta Air Lines Flight 1213 had just left its gate for departure when one of the Airbus A330’s engines caught fire, Fox 35 Orlando reports. The 200 passengers, 10 flight attendants, and two pilots evacuated.

X user Dylan Wallace posted video of the plane on fire and the subsequent evacuation, embedded below.

A Delta spokesperson said the crew followed established safety protocols. Maintenance teams will inspect the plane.

Nothing is more important than safety and Delta teams will work to get our customers to their final destinations as soon as possible.

Delta Air Lines statement

MCO posted on X that the fire happened at approximately 11:06 a.m. They said “Passengers were evacuated” and “Aircraft Rescue & Fire Fighting team promptly responded.”

MCO said in another statement that the fire is out. No injuries were reported.

  1. Having been through aircraft emergency evacuation training and one genuine plane crash I can tell you there are few things more intense and dangerous than an emergency on an airplane.

    Good job crews and responders getting everyone safely out of danger!
