Disney Entertainment co-chairman Alan Bergman presented Disney Legend James Cameron, who appeared via a video to talk about the upcoming “Avatar” threequel. He couldn’t appear in person because he was finishing up the film in New Zealand, but said he was excited to share “glimpse at the increased emotional heart and soul” in “Fire and Ash.”

Cameron added, “The Sully family are really put through the wringer on this one as they face not only the human invaders, but new adversaries, the Ash People.” (via Variety)

Cameron introduced Zoe Saldaña who had already appeared during the presentation to talk about Pixar’s “Elio,” in which she voices the titular character’s aunt. In the “Avatar” series, Saldaña portrays Neytiri alongside Sam Worthington as Jake Sully.

“’Fire and Ash’ expands the beautiful world of Pandora and introduces two new clans, the Wind Traders and the Ash People,” Saldaña said. (via The Hollywood Reporter)

“The Wind Traders are a peaceful, nomadic air-traveling clan, and the Ash People are former Na’vi who have forsaken Eywa,” she explained.

The audience was given 3D glasses to view the footage, which has not been released online. It featured the Wind Traders and Ash People at odds, battling in the skies.

An Ash leader tells Neytiri, “Your goddess has no place here.”

Jake says to Neytiri, “We can not live like this, baby. We can not live with this hate.”

A Water tribe leader says, “We cannot defeat this enemy who comes from the stars.”

“Avatar: Fire and Ash” also stars Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Kate Winslet, Cliff Curtis, Oona Chaplin, Jack Champion, Britain Dalton, Trinity Bliss, and Bailey Bass. Cameron produces. Jon Landau also produced prior to his passing last summer.

“Avatar: Fire and Ash” will be in theaters on December 19, 2025. It will be longer than the first two films.

“Avatar 4” will follow on December 21, 2029, and then “Avatar 5” on December 19, 2031.
