Guests planning to take part in the Darkmoor Monster Makeup Experience may want to try some alcoholic beverages first, because guests are unable to purchase any alcohol while wearing their new makeup.
Alcohol Policy for Darkmoor Monster Makeup Experience

The Darkmoor Monster Makeup Experience allows guests to let skilled artists turn turn them into werewolves, vampires and more using paint and accessories. Guests can choose between a “Transformation Ticket,” which includes both face makeup and accessories, or the “Experiment Ticket,” which is makeup-only.
While participating in the Darkmoor Monster Makeup Experience at Epic Universe, Team Members informed us several times of an important rule. Any guests wearing their monstrous new makeup will be completely unable to buy any alcohol in Epic Universe for the remainder of the day.
According to Team Members working at the experience, this rule is being enforced because it would be difficult for employees to ID any guests wearing the monster makeup. Guests who have participated in the experience may look older than their actual age or not appear to match their ID picture. We were warned of the rule when we first checked-in for our experience and again before we paid.

This no-alcohol rule is also listed on the official Universal website page for the Monster Makeup Experience. The webpage specifically notes that this rule applies to any Universal park as well as CityWalk. Guests can only purchase alcohol once their monster makeup has been removed.
This rule is note entirely new to Epic Universe. Earlier this week, Universal Studios Hollywood released their guidelines for wearing costumes during Universal Fan Fest Nights. For these events, alcoholic beverages will not be served to guests whose face paint covers more than one-half of their face when applied vertically. While the reason for this rule was not specified, it is likely also because matching the ID of guests wearing full-face makeup is difficult.
Reservations for the Darkmoor Monster Makeup Experience are available online now for booking dates after the park’s official opening on May 22.
