Gunholes Patched on Frontierland DVC Kiosk at Magic Kingdom

The faux gunholes on the tower of the Magic Kingdom Disney Vacation Club kiosk have been covered.

Gunholes Covered

People walk near a rustic log cabin building under tall trees on a sunny day at a park or outdoor attraction.

The tower is outside the newly opened Disney Vacation Club member lounge, McKim’s Mile House, in Frontierland. The lounge replaced the Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade. The DVC kiosk has been located outside the arcade for several years, in this fort-style tower.

A rustic wooden cabin with shingled roof, small window, and a lantern hanging by the side, set against a blue sky.

Previously, each side of the tower had three rectangular openings near the top. These represented gunholes, which were used in real forts to shoot enemies from cover. Such gunholes still exist in Fort Langhorn on Tom Sawyer Island, where guests can “shoot” fake rifles.

One of the gunholes on the front of the tower has been turned into a larger window. The others have all been patched up and painted over. The planks where they used to be are noticeably less faded than the other planks, and there are some fresh dark patches over the holes that were most recently patched.

Along with the closure of Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade, the covering of the gunholes appears to be part of a larger effort to cut down gun references at Disney Parks. Fort Langhorn will also permanently close when Tom Sawyer Island is replaced with a “Cars” area. Removing the gunholes also reinforces this area’s new theming as a mile house instead of a fort.

For reference, below is what the tower looked like just a few weeks ago, with the gunholes still intact.

A group of people stands outside a wooden park building on a sunny day, reminiscent of the Magic Kingdom entrance. Some are sitting, while others stroll by in colorful shirts and costumes. Trees and a blue sky frame the scene, creating an atmosphere that could easily belong to a Disney Vacation Club gathering.
