“Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse” has finally set a new release date after being removed from the Sony theatrical calendar in 2023.
‘Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse’ Release Date Set
The film’s production team appeared at CinemaCon yesterday to announce that the third installation in the Miles Morales-focused series would be released in theaters on June 4, 2027. Footage from the new film was also shown.
This announcement comes four years after the previous entry, “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,” raked in more than $682 million globally, and five years after “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” won an Oscar for Best Animated Feature.
The film was originally scheduled to release on March 29, 2024, but was removed from the Sony release calendar entirely due to the SAG-AFTRA (Screen Actors Guild — American Federation of Television and Radio Artists) and WGA (Writers Guild of America) strikes in 2023. Due to the work stoppage orders at the time, the voice cast was not able to record and complete their dialogue in time for the film to release on its original date, thus pushing back production.
Once again written and produced by Chris Miller and Phil Lord, along with David Callahan, and directed by Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson, the sequel marks the return of Shameik Moore voicing Miles Morales, the Brooklyn teen Spider-Man, and Hailee Steinfeld as Spider-Gwen.
