Step into a world of vampire dining if you dare at the table service restaurant, Das Stakehaus, in Dark Universe at Epic Universe.
Das Stakehaus
About
Das Stakehaus is inspired by Dracula and staffed by vampires’ servants. It serves kebabs (or “stakes”), burgers, sandwiches, and ribs. Read the official description below.
Shrouded in mystery, Das Stakehaus is an old inn and dining hall built over the ruins of ancient catacombs. Here you can enjoy a meal surrounded by vampire artwork and artifacts. In fact, the restaurant is run by vampires’ “familiars”, or servants. Just don’t venture down to the catacombs below, or you might find yourself on the vampires’ menu.
Exterior
The entrance to Das Stakehaus is in a stone tower facade in Darkmoor. It’s one of the tallest buildings in the village.
The menu is shown via a screen in a wooden frame to the right of the entrance. At night, a decorative element above the menu glows red, highlighting a bat motif.
A Team Member is stationed outside the red-tinged door to help guests.
The wooden Das Stakehaus sign features a trio of built-in sconces that illuminate the words at night.
To the right of the entrance is a large gate, which looks into a large courtyard that diners can visit.
Interior
Section
Though this courtyard is relatively empty right now. More seating may be added here later, and it still has some cool decorations. Mismatched lanterns hang from the ceiling.
Dead — or at least inert — vampires with stakes in their chests are on display throughout Das Stakehaus. There are a handful in this courtyard, all tucked snugly into alcoves on the stone walls. The square stones to either side of this vamp appear to be headstones with the names Oktorok Yanmis Olan and Gnahz Ignorované.
At the back of the courtyard are three more staked vamps in alcoves.
They have long, claw-like fingers, pointed ears, and sharp teeth. Their clothing varies, showing they’re from different backgrounds and time periods.
As guests go further into the catacombs, they see more artifacts and signs of death. These shelves hold skeletons and beheaded skulls. One has an arrow in its chest. There’s a knight’s helmet next to another. Around the skeletons are glowing candles.
Sconces on the walls feature decorative animal faces.
A long grate just past the entrance features skulls and bats. Guests line up next to this grate.
Near the check-out counters are more alcoves with candles inside.
The counters are between stone archways with grates above. Plants seem to be growing down through the grates, and blue light washes the area.
After ordering, guests enter the dining room. There are chandeliers featuring more skulls. These have red candles sticking out of them.
Two elaborately dressed vampires are in alcoves overlooking the dining area. A black substance seems to drip down the walls from them.
Between them are headstones and cracked-open walls, revealing a coffin with chains holding it closed.
This vamp must have been particularly hard to kill as he has several stakes in his chest.
The chairs are gathered around long tables. They feature bat sculptures on their high backs.
To the sides of the bat sculptures are skulls. The chairs have red and brown patterned upholstery.
The ceiling is curved, recreating the feeling of being in a catacomb. There are more grates with tree roots growing through them. Above a bench at the end of the room is a large painting depicting a fiery scene.
Another painting across a side wall shows the clash between men and monsters.
Another vampire holding a stuffed bear reminds guests that even children can fall prey to the demons of the night…
