Universal Studios Japan officially announced that Illumination’s Villain-Con Minion Blast will open this summer.
Villain-Con Coming to Universal Studios Japan
Guest photos of construction in the Minion Park area of Universal Studios Japan all but confirmed the attraction was on its way. Universal has now confirmed the addition via the Minion Park webpage.
Villain-Con—the biggest gathering of villains anywhere—has arrived at USJ and Minion Park is now bigger and badder! Come experience Illumination’s Minions in an all-new way while also enjoying Despicable Me Minion Mayhem and Freeze Ray Sliders. The level of mayhem has been amped-up to infinity!

Summer 2025—New attraction boosts the excitement at Minion Park
Universal Studios Japan also shared a diagram showing where Villain-Con will be located, on the right side of the Minion Park street. The main entrance will be on the front corner.
The first version of Minion Blast replaced Shrek 4D at Universal Studios Florida. It opened in 2023 alongside the new Minion Land, which drew inspiration from Universal Studios Japan’s Minion Park.
Villain-Con Minion Blast mixes a moving walkway with a shooting attraction. Guests attending the villain convention battle various “Despicable Me” villains, including the Vicious 6. Guests can sync their scores and progress with the Universal Orlando Resort app to unlock achievements.
