Universal has replaced the missing number “1” on 12 Grimmauld Place in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Florida.

Number 12 Fixed

12 Grimmauld Place is a facade along the London Waterfront at Universal Studios Florida, part of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter but outside of the magical Diagon Alley. It’s inspired by the Black family home in the “Harry Potter” series, most notably featured in “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.” Recently, part of the door was broken — the lower left rectangle. After it was repaired, the “1” of the number “12” on the door went missing.

The number 12 displayed on a dark, weathered wooden surface.

Since our last report, a new “1” has been added to the door with a bumpy paint job behind it to cover the damage from the previous number’s removal. The new “1” has the same dirty finish as the “2” but is not quite the same golden color. It looks more like it has smudges across it, while the “2” looks like it might have been painted over.

We don’t know if a guest tore down the number, if it fell off naturally due to Florida weather, or if Universal crew members removed it for a necessary repair.

There are two Wizarding Worlds at Universal Orlando Resort, but there are about to be three. The original, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade, opened at Universal Islands of Adventure in 2010, taking over part of The Lost Continent. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley opened at Universal Studios Florida, taking over the “Jaws” footprint, in 2014.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic, inspired by the British Ministry of Magic and the French Place Cachée, will open with Epic Universe on May 22, 2025.
