The foundation of Cool Ship at Magic Kingdom has been completely torn out of the ground during an extensive refurbishment of the area. The Cool Ship kiosk itself was dismantled and removed from Tomorrowland last week.
Cool Ship Refurbishment
A large circle of concrete is gone where the kiosk used to be, leaving dirt exposed. The Hitachi excavator we previously spotted is still there. It’s apparently being used to clear debris from the ground, although it was not operating when we visited on Wednesday.
Two rectangular sections of the concrete have also been torn up, leading out of the circle. There’s a pile of broken concrete next to the excavator.

Cool Ship closed in mid-May. Despite the significant construction, it is expected to return. The Walt Disney World official website states Cool Ship is “temporarily closed for refurbishment and is expected to reopen later this year.” We don’t know if the kiosk will retain its previous look (pictured above), which includes the Cool Scanner, a refreshing mist sprayer.
The kiosk offered drinks and snacks like popcorn, cotton candy, and ice cream novelties. While Cool Ship is closed, guests can still get refreshments and snacks at the nearby Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies and The Lunching Pad.
One notable feature of Cool Ship is the red ship atop the Cool Scanner. This is rumored to be a repurposed prop from “Flight of the Navigator” (1986), although the rumor has never been confirmed. The ship was refurbished in 2021.
