Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa is honoring the Disneyland 70th anniversary with a medallion in the lobby.
Disneyland 70th Anniversary Medallion
The medallion hangs over a grate above a walkway between two stone columns. While most of the Disneyland Resort 70th decorations are bright colors, this medallion is bronze and gold to better match the hotel’s theming. A backdrop of golden strings hang behind it.
A golden “70” is set against a floral design. Bronze filigree wraps around the edge of the medallion.
Guests can save up to 20% off a Grand Californian Hotel room and other Disneyland Resort hotel rooms this summer during the Disneyland 70th Celebration. The offer is valid on standard and premium room types for stays on Sunday through Thursday nights from May 16 to August 14. Bookings are open through July 31. A discount of 30% off is available for longer stays.
Storytellers Cafe at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel will debut Donald’s Tales of Adventure Dinner Buffet on May 16, which is the official start date of the 70th anniversary celebration. The Disneyland 70th Celebration Acrylic Flute will be available at Storytellers Cafe. The Mickey Mouse Popcorn Bucket will be at GCH Craftsman Grill and the Grand Californian Great Hall Cart.

Though Disneyland Resort is celebrating its 70th anniversary, Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa is a relatively young addition. The hotel opened in 2001 as part of a major expansion to the resort that also included Disney California Adventure.
The resort’s other accommodations are Disneyland Hotel and Pixar Place Hotel. The former opened in 1955, just a few months after Disneyland Park, although it was not owned by Disney until the 1980s. The Pixar Place Hotel originated in 1984 as the Emerald of Anaheim. Disney purchased it in 1995. It has been renamed multiple times, becoming Pixar Place Hotel in 2024.
