Mickey’s PhilharMagic at Hong Kong Disneyland is currently closed for updates but will reopen in June.
Mickey’s PhilharMagic Reopening Date
Michael Moriarty, Managing Director of Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, announced in an Instagram video that Mickey’s PhilharMagic will reopen on June 12. As previously announced, the show is being upgraded from film to digital and will get the “Coco” scene that has already debuted at other parks.
The “Coco” scene debuted at Disney California Adventure in 2021. It was then added to the Disneyland Paris and Magic Kingdom versions of Mickey’s PhilharMagic. In 2022, the Tokyo Disneyland version received the scene. Hong Kong Disneyland is the last version of Mickey’s PhilharMagic to get the update.
Moriarty’s Instagram video included a peek at a poster for the scene in the ride’s queue. In the scene, Héctor and Miguel perform “Un Poco Loco” in the Land of the Dead. Instead of replacing another scene, the “Coco” scene is slotted between “The Lion King” and “Peter Pan” sections, adding about 2 minutes to the show.

Disney announced in March that there is a “Coco” sequel in the works at Pixar. The original film was released in 2017. It won the Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature Film and Best Original Song (“Remember Me”), Golden Globe for Best Animated Motion Picture, BAFTA for Best Animated Film, and Critics’ Choice awards for Best Animated Feature and Best Song.
“Coco” was written by Adrian Molina and Matthew Aldrich, from a story by Lee Unkrich, Molina, Aldrich, and Jason Katz. Unkrich directed and Molina co-directed. They will both return for the sequel.
“Coco” starred Anthony Gonzalez as Miguel, Gael García Bernal as Héctor, Benjamin Bratt as Ernesto de la Cruz, Alanna Ubach as Mamá Imelda, Renée Victor as Abuelita, and Ana Ofelia Murguía as Mamá Coco. Gonzalez and García Bernal’s voices are also featured in the Mickey’s PhilharMagic scene.
