Paint the Night Adjusted, Performers Moved to Cover Missing Group in Disneyland Parade

Since the original media preview performance for Paint the Night at Disneyland Park, one group of performers has gone missing and been replaced with a group from a different section.

Paint the Night, which premiered at Disneyland Park in 2015 for the resort’s 60th anniversary, briefly returned for short stints in 2017 and 2018. During that 2018 return at Disney California Adventure, the float featuring characters from “Frozen” was added.

The Paint the Night parade recently returned to Disneyland Park as a part of the 70th anniversary celebrations. Reservations are also still open for the Paint the Night Dining Package, which allows guests to receive a packaged meal along with a reserved parade viewing area.

The parade largely ran as expected during the media preview of the Disneyland 70th entertainment, but one section has since been changed. According to Cast Members, the group known informally as the count dancers has been temporarily removed from the parade, possibly due to some costuming issues. The court dancers wore large white and green dresses that resembled ball gowns, and they would walk in the space between the end of the “Toy Story” unit and the beginning of the princess unit.

For a few days following the change, this section of the parade was left empty. Following the end of the “Toy Story” vehicles, there were no performers until the large Candlelight Dreams float with Belle on the front.

To fill the empty space, the six dove-themed performers who previously walked alongside the extended float with the Disney Princesses have now been moved into the royal court performer gap. The dove performers are wearing their same costumes with short tulle skirts and wide feathered wings lit with blue sparkling lights.

For comparison, above is a side-by-side image showing the royal court performers who used to precede the Candlelight Dreams float along with the new dove performers replacement. There is no official word on when the court dancers are expected to return, though rumors suggest it may be more than a few weeks.

Paint the Night parade will be performed daily at 8:45 p.m. and 10:45 p.m. through the rest of the Disneyland 70th Celebration, though some of the added entertainment offerings will temporarily pause for the Halloween and Christmas holidays. Other new or returning entertainment offerings for the Disneyland 70th anniversary include “The Celebrate Happy Cavalcade,” the “Wondrous Journeys” fireworks spectacular, and “World of Color Happiness!
