Howdy! Today was a busy day with park hopping between Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom. I ended the day with some shopping therapy in Disney Springs. Throughout the day I saw a few construction updates, animals doing animal things, and new merchandise that will fly off the shelves.
Good Morning from Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Good morning from Disney’s Hollywood Studios where construction progresses slowly but the crowds roll in quickly.
Currently, the meet and greet area of Disney Junior remains unchanged with walls and rolling planters blocking all views. You can hear the construction team working behind them. Across the courtyard, Ariel’s theater remains untouched since the wait sign was installed and the rolling planters were removed.
If you haven’t seen the video of Jody Benson visiting the cast and crew of the upcoming show, and even getting a preview, you are missing out. She’s the perfect Disney Princess ambassador. Did I mention that I am a huge ‘The Little Mermaid’ fan? Loyal since the moment she graced my childhood television.
Chase ATM is Currently Unavailable
Less magical the Chase ATM is currently unavailable in Hollywood Studios Sunset. Worry not, there is another one located only a few yards away at the entrance of the park. I was mostly distracted by the adorable depiction of Mickey and the gang dressed for construction.
FLORIDA!!! Shirt Restocked – $34.99
The coveted FLORIDA!!! shirt has been restocked in Legends of Hollywood. If you’re fast you may still be able to grab one, but fair warning these shirts are oversized which is my favorite.
I just want to rant for a moment. I can’t be the only one annoyed with the Hollywood Studios icon. I hate it. First of all, where is the Hollywood Tower Hotel sign? Hmm…? Beyond that. I miss the Earful Tower and if we must lose the Mickey Sorcerer Hat and the Earful Tower then at least make the icon the Chinese Theater. Hmm? Explain Disney. Feel free to respond in the comments below.
Sunset Showcase is Being Villainfide
Work is chugging along on the Sunset Showcase facade. For now the facade remains under construction with a focus on the paint. Likely it will match the deep reds and maroons seen in the concept art and the inside. There is still one Lightning Mcqueen Sign left. They did remove the gate and the scrim in the queue of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster.
As always you can stay most up to date with the latest details on this project and more on our website.
I’m Being Gas Lit or Mandela Effected
Okay, I know it’s getting hot, but I promise I’m hydrated. I somehow missed that this ornament came in both pink and blue versions of Sleeping Beauty’s dress. This ornament isn’t new and I verified with our past reporting that we have covered both but when?
The wildest part is I was the one who reported both, but have no recollection. This is one of my more dense moments but the ornament is still available in two colors for $26.99 each. Let me know in the comments below if you have ever experienced anything like this and what was your scenario.
Good Morning from Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Pluto
Good morning for Disney’s Animal Kingdom where Pluto himself greeted me upon arrival. You know it’s going to be a good day when you see the best pup pal in the world. Pluto has relocated recently. He used to meet in Dinoland like many of the other characters, but since his space is currently behind construction walls for the new Tropical Americas area he moved to the Oasis.
The Oasis is located to the right when you enter Animal Kingdom before you even see the Tree of Life. For more details on how you can meet Pluto in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, you can visit our website.
Lacers Newest Series Now Available – $16.99 for one
In Riverside Depot, I found the newest series in the Disney Lacers collection. Each box holds one mystery shoe for $16.99 each. This is the 4th edition of Disney Lacers and features some of Disney Park’s most iconic attractions. There is a Space Mountain, Small World, Pirates of the Caribbean, Jungle Cruise, and Prince Charming’s Royal Carrousel, as well as an unknown mystery miniature high top.
Do you collect Disney Lacers? Let me know in the comments below. I mostly wish for them to grow into a wearable size.
Winnie-the-Pooh and Eeyore Adult Crocs Now in Parks
In Island Mercantile I found the new Winnie-the-Pooh and Eeyore adult Crocs for $69.99 each. I can totally see every Hundred Acre Wood fan wearing these in the parks. I love these characters and this story, but these are not for me personally. Let me know in the comments below if you could handle the tickle of Eeyore’s tail on your ankle. I couldn’t, I tried.
Florida Wildlife Scare
If you have read my photo reports before you may know that I love all animals. HOWEVER. I do not appreciate any jump scares from any animals including humans. This guy scared me to death this morning. I was minding my business and just checking in with my editor when this guy ran across my path, far too close.
CALLING ALL FLORIDA WILDLIFE EXPERTS! I believe this giant foot-long lizard is a Cuban Knight Anole, which from my extensive online research is notorious for pranking humans and will bite for fun, but that was Reddit. Please correct me in the comments.
Tree of Life Appreciation Post
A little namaste for your late morning Thursday. Without fail the Tree of Life captures my attention. Maybe it’s my ADD or maybe the icon demands your attention to a certain degree. I always find a new creature.
Abdim’s Storks
The Abdim Storks have made a comfortable new home away from Dinoland. Their nest has shifted closer to the small pond, but maybe they prefer a true lake view. They still don’t have an informational sign which makes me sad. They are so tucked in the corner that without a sign most guests miss them entirely.
Sleeping In with the Flamingos (Sound On)
I have never wanted to take a nap in a Disney park more in my life than I wanted to this morning with the Lesser Flamingos. The video on the right is pure bliss to me. The little Flamingo is perfectly balanced on one foot but on a totally different planet. You can hear the small snores and see the baby pink feathers fluff under each breath. It’s perfection.
Good Afternoon from Disney Springs… More Like Hot Springs
Disney had a different plan for my afternoon, much different from the calm morning I had just had with the Flamingo. Good afternoon from a hot Disney Springs. It was pretty desolate this afternoon, but I don’t blame folks. It’s a sweaty day to be shopping.
Little Words Project New Stitch Bracelets – $30 Each
We press on because the new merchandise is worth the hustle. Little Words Project has added Stitch to their Disney collaborations. Each bracelet is available in multiple sizes for $30.00 each. A small golden pineapple charm is secured to the back of each bracelet.
I love this company, and have plenty of bracelets already, but that Scrump bracelet almost got me.
Miniature Main Street USA Trash “Candy” Can Now Available
In Goofy’s Candy Company and the Candy Cauldron you can now purchase a miniature Main Street U.S.A. trash candy can for an additional $14.99. You do have to buy a half pound of candy from the dispensers to get this adorable canister. Goofy’s Candy Company has more of a candy selection than Candy Cauldron.
For more information please visit our website.
Marketplace Co-Op Princess Dresses for Adults – $69.99 Each
I have always wondered why Disney didn’t make the youth Story Play Dresses for adults. There is a market for it. Well, the mouse must’ve heard me because here they are. Each dress features built-in athletic shorts that are easily pulled down to use the restroom without having to undress totally.
I can see Run Disney runners and regular guests cosplaying or “Disney Bounding” now. Do you dress like your favorite characters in the parks? Let me know in the comments below. I can’t be bothered to get out of my athletic uniform.
Crystal Arts – Build Your Own Tiara
The DIY Tiara experience has now come to Disney Springs Crystal Arts. However, there is a catch. They only carry silver and gold, while Magic Kingdom will only have silver and rose gold. So if you have a preference for gold or rose gold be sure you visit the correct location. They couldn’t make it more confusing by naming the shops the same.
The bottom line for DIY Tiaras is …
- GOLD and SILVER – Disney Springs Crystal Arts
- ROSE GOLD and SILVER – Magic Kingdom Crystal Arts
I hope you enjoyed our day at Walt Disney World. I most enjoyed the peace this morning at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, watching the sweet Flamingo sleep in. Let me know in the comments below if you have a favorite moment or find.
