Ryan Reynolds Teases Potential X-Men Movie Featuring Deadpool

Actor Ryan Reynolds has teased a potential addition to the MCU that would star characters from the X-Men, with Deadpool taking on a supporting role.

Potential X-Men and Deadpool Movie

In a recent article from The Hollywood Reporter, sources have indicated that Ryan Reynolds is working on a potential Marvel film that would include Deadpool, but only as a side character alongside stars from the X-Men films. According to the THR sources, Reynolds is remaining true to his promise that he does not anticipate starring in another solo Deadpool film. However, his latest idea features characters from the X-Men:

The multi-hyphenate is working on various treatments for an ensemble film featuring three or four X-Men characters. Deadpool would of course appear, but perhaps only as a supporting player. Reynolds is said to believe that keeping his f-bomb wielding anti-hero more on the sidelines could allow for the X-Men characters to be used in unexpected ways.

The article reminds readers that this potential Marvel film is still in the extremely early stages, and Reynolds is known for pitching multiple ideas before landing on a final idea for a movie. Reynolds is also currently still working on the script for a Paramount comedy series.

Marvel has also confirmed that several stars from the X-Men films will be appearing in the upcoming “Avengers: Doomsday” film including Kelsey Grammer (Hank McCoy / Beast), Patrick Stewart (Professor X), Ian McKellen (Erik Lehnsherr / Magneto), Rebecca Romijn (Raven Darkhölme / Mystique), Channing Tatum (Remy LeBeau / Gambit), Alan Cumming (Kurt Wagner / Nightcrawler), and James Marsden (Scott Summers / Cyclops).

Reynolds has previously expressed an interest in seeing Deadpool sharing the screen alongside members of the X-Men or the Avengers:

At the time, Reynolds also told THR that he believed Deadpool could appear opposite the X-Men and the Avengers, but that the character joining those teams would have unintended consequences.

There is not yet any potential title or release date for Reynolds’s X-Men film.

Reynold’s latest Deadpool film, “Deadpool and Wolverine,” did include several characters from the X-Men movies including Sabertooth (Tyler Mane), Pyro (Aaron Stanford), and Colossus (Stefan Kapicic). “Deadpool & Wolverine” broke several box-office records, becoming the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time.
