The construction work continues on Stormalong Bay Pool and the nearby refurbishment of Disney’s Yacht Club Resort.

While most of the work at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts is taking place on the Yacht Club side, some scaffolding has been erected on the pool-facing side of the Beach Club Resort. This is likely going to involve similar work as the roof shingle and siding replacement process that is still in progress at the Yacht Club.

As has been the case since Stormalong Bay closed in January, the guest walkway closest to the pool is still blocked by plain white construction walls and some rolling planters.

Construction vehicles and barriers block the entrance to a large, light blue resort building under a cloudy sky.

Moving over to the side of the construction walls, several vehicles are still parked near the Stormalong Bay entrance with various construction tools. A lift is also parked on this side, though the work over by the rocks and slide seems to be mostly completed.

This side of the Yacht Club Resort is still completely covered in scaffolding. Several of the lower roof sections are still missing shingles.

As we reported during our previous construction update, Stormalong Bay has had one of its three main pool sections refilled with new water.

Construction crew members were working on cleaning and finishing the guest walkway that surrounds the refilled pool section.

The right side of the main walkway leading toward the main lobby entrance for Disney’s Yacht Club Resort from Stormalong Bay is now completely blocked with white construction walls and more rolling planters. While there had been some walls on this side in the past, they have now been pushed forward and run all the way to the stairs.

The walls have blue themed signs with the ship’s wheel-shaped logo for the Yacht Club Resort and the sponsorship logo for PPG Paints. In traditional Walt Disney World fashion, the signs have inspirational quotes like “Ideas come from curiosity” and “It’s kinds of fun to do the impossible,” many of which are attributed to Walt Disney.

Around the corner of the construction walls facing Stormalong Bay, it appears most of the siding in this area has been repaired and repainted. The windows are still covered with plastic and painter’s tape.

The doorway leading to this outdoor patio has been marked as “Emergency exit only” with multiple signs blocking the path.

Looking through the nearby windows, the patio is wrapped on all sides by metal scaffolding as crew members continue to replace the roof shingles.

The shingle work on a second pointed roof is also visible in the distance. The shingles for this section are almost completely gone, apart from a few remaining patches above the windows.

Around the opposite side of the patio, one walkway allows guests to exit the indoor hall and walk along the outdoor covered path. To keep guests from getting too close to the construction work, the interior side of the scaffolding has been lined with white scrims.

Most of this walkway is back open, apart from a section nearest to the exterior wall. This area is still getting the final touches to the siding, so it is blocked with some short barriers.

Two sections between the white windows still need to be replaced, so crew members were in the process of removing the old siding and exposing the black waterproofing material.

Workers in safety gear renovate an empty pool, carrying buckets and tools near artificial rocks and a lighthouse structure.

Finally, it appears most of the sandbags closest to the unfilled pool sections have been poured out. Most of the bags are now gone, and it appears most of the refurbished pool sections are now covered in a fresh layer of sand. This was the final step we saw when the first pool section was refilled with water, so it is likely these other two sections will also be refilled soon.

Stormalong Bay is expected to remain closed until June 2025, though no exact reopening date has been announced. In the meantime, guests at the resort or the nearby Disney’s Beach Club Resort are encouraged to use the Tidal, Admiral, and Dunes Cove pools instead.
