The construction to refurbish Stormalong Bay at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort continues with more jackhammer work, covered windows, and concrete painting.
Stormalong Bay Construction Update
Stormalong Bay has been closed for refurbishment since early January 2025. In one of our previous updates, we saw several construction crew members walking the deck of the pirate ship.
One crew member was still working on something to the left side of the deck, but it is still difficult to see what kind of work is being completed.
Closer to the main building of the hotel, areas to the right of the main walkway are being used to stage additional construction materials. This pile appeared to contain several metal rods or pipes.
While the construction is mainly on the pool area, crew members have also begun working on the facade of the building too. Over on the right, we could see where several small vehicles were parked next to a pallet of power tools.
More paneling pieces located around the windows have been removed since our last update. Construction crew members were using drills to pull out some of the wall components. As previously, the walkway is closed-off from guests using white barricades.
Several of the sections around the nearby windows have had the white paneling taken away, showing the black waterproofing material underneath.
On the left side of the far windows, one crew member is holding up what may be some identical-looking new panels. This section was entirely exposed during our last update, but it is now mostly covered halfway up the wall.
In another change since our last update, the windows on the second floor near this area have been covered with plastic and tape. While the work so far has not reached higher than the first floor, this may imply the exterior refurbishment will expand higher in sections.
From the interior hallway, guests’ views of the construction are somewhat blocked by more plastic sheets held on the windows using blue tape.
Guests are not allowed to use either of the double doors on this side of the hotel, and signs have been placed in front of them. The signs are white and point guests toward the exit around the corner.
Moving outside to Stormalong Bay itself, many crew members are still audibly using jackhammers on the concrete.
The concrete in this entire section has been removed, including both the base of the pool and the nearby path. Disney usually has all of the jackhammer work completed during the day, as to not disturb sleeping guests after dark.
In this middle section, crews were painting some kind of product on the exposed concrete. This could either be a type of sealing liquid or a primary layer to add texture before this section is repainted with its usual colors.
The bridge crossing over what is usually another pool section has been blocked using yellow caution tape. More of the concrete by the bride has been removed, exposing the grid of wires running underneath.
Less crew members were actively working on the right half of the pool, where all of the concrete has already been torn up.
Additional construction materials have been piled along the pool’s edge and underneath several of the covered walkways.
Stormalong Bay has been confirmed to remain closed through June 2025, though no exact reopening date has been announced. In the meantime, guests at the resort or the nearby Disney’s Beach Club Resort are encouraged to use the Tidal, Admiral, and Dunes Cove pools instead.
