Crews are painting a shattered glass effect on Sunset Showcase, the theater for the upcoming “Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After” at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

The shattered glass effect is coming together on the purple and pink section of the building above the main entrance. It looks like this will be a poster-like mural. Right now, there is no clear imagery.

The mural is starting to resemble one of the show’s posters featuring the Magic Mirror. The Magic Mirror is a major element of “Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After,” with villains trapped in its realm. Cruella de Vil, Captain Hook, and Maleficent will be the featured villains.

There are two lifts in the Sunset Showcase courtyard for crew members to reach the mural, which is located where a Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy sign used to be. There are still red umbrellas and railings from the previous show in the outdoor queue. These might all remain for the new show.

The nearby backstage gate was mostly torn down and is now being reconstructed. The old gate featured a Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy mural. Like the theater, the gate may now get a Disney Villains mural.

For now, the gate is white. Multiple crew members were working on installing it on Friday morning.

Although the show closed last fall, one Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy sign remains at the edge of the Sunset Showcase courtyard, facing the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster queue.

“Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After” opens on May 27, along with “The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure.”
