Cafe L’air de la Sirène
About
Café L’air De La Sirène is a wizarding take on a Parisian cafe. Here, you’ll find French fare, baked goods, sandwiches, and desserts. Universal’s official description of the venue reads,
The streets of wizarding Paris are home to delightful cafes, including Café L’air De La Sirène. Dine inside or outside as you enjoy French baked goods, sandwiches, plats du jour and desserts. You can quench your thirst with Butterbeer along with a variety of non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks including beer, cocktails and French wines.
Exterior
Cafe L’air de la Sirène translates to The Air of the Mermaid Cafe. It has a primarily red facade with the sculpture of a dragon above the main sign. Smaller hanging signs feature a mermaid logo.
According to the facade, Cafe L’air de la Sirène was founded in 1884. “Festines et friandises pour tous” translates to “Feasts and treats for all.” There’s stroller parking just through the doorway.
It has indoor dining as well as a covered outdoor patio. Like the main entrance, the patio has a red facade and matching red awnings. The windows are decorated with golden designs and lettering advertising the food on offer.
Interior
Lobby
The walls of the restaurant are marble. The tops of archways are red with golden stars. In the lobby, barriers with frosted glass separate the entrance from the dining room.
There are light ceiling panels with black borders and floral accents.
A doorway across from the entrance leads to the ordering area. It’s surrounded by mirrors.
Art Nouveau-style tile murals feature wizards and witches with various magical creatures. Some represent different wizarding schools. Above is pictured a student in red robes for Durmstrang. A serpent-like creature is alongside the student.
A woman in a blue dress and hat represents the French school, Beauxbatons. She’s surrounded by flowers and butterflies.
A man in dark robes with a phoenix on his shoulder appears to represent Hogwarts. Another mural showcases a woman in green with thestrals.
An occamy is pictured with a woman in pink, and a white dragon is with a woman in red.
A console table displays decorative sweets. There are two conical towers and a tiered tray of colorful treats.
A chandelier hangs over the space. The tile floor features a sparse flower pattern.
Ordering & Check-Out
Above the wood-paneled walls in the ordering area is artwork of beasts, including an erumpent, swooping evil, demiguise, mooncalves, and runespoor.
Foliage is gathered around plateware in nooks atop columns. Golden chandeliers illuminate the space.
Guests order their food and drinks at vintage-style silver registers on a long counter. Behind the counter are shelves with props and souvenir Butterbeer glasses. Menus are displayed on screens.
Behind the counter are absinthe fountains.
Guests can also check out using the Universal Orlando Resort mobile app and QR codes at each table.
Dining Room
Red curtains hang in the archways of the dining room. There are more short barriers and Art Nouveau-style murals throughout the space.
One mural reflects the restaurant’s name, featuring a mermaid relaxing alongside a grindylow.
A matching mural features a merman with a trident.
Closest to the check-out counters are long tables and chairs.
There are large mirrors on the walls, making the space feel open and endless. Small square tables are tucked against dark brown benches.
More square tables with chairs are in the center of the dining room.
There are floor-to-ceiling windows looking out at Place Cachée. Glass doors in the windows lead out to the patio.
Another mural shows a woman holding a niffler. Another one of the creatures is at her feet.
