Duffy and ShellieMay have officially made their debut in Disneyland Park wearing their new 70th anniversary costumes in The Celebrate Happy Cavalcade.
The Celebrate Happy Cavalcade with Duffy and More

The Celebrate Happy Cavalcade has traveled through Disneyland Park for the first time, and it begins with two of the most anticipated characters. Duffy and ShellyMay appear in tricycle vehicles that are being reused from the old “Celebrate! A Street Party” that ran from 2009 to 2010. For the new cavalcade, the vehicles have been repainted with a purple, pink, yellow, and blue stained-glass pattern.

As previewed in social media posts by Disney, both bears are wearing new Disneyland 70th Celebration outfits to match the event’s official color scheme. ShellyMay has a new dress that is mostly purple, but incorporates a multicolored tutu.

Duffy’s costume is a blue-colored spin on his regular sailor outfit, complete with stripes on his hat and a new diamond pattern on his shirt.

Following Duffy are some characters and performers walking on the ground. Goofy is wearing his matching 70th anniversary outfit, just as he was wearing during the Disneyland Band march earlier in the day. Unlike the band march, however, Goofy is now walking alongside Max. Max is also wearing a new blue shirt with diamonds and purple shorts.

The following float is populated with several Disney Princesses including Merida, Pocahontas, Snow White, and Jasmine. The float has more of the starry stained-glass pattern on the sides and the “70 Celebrate Happy” wordmark.

Another group of performers is wearing colorful outfits with matching diamond patterns. A few of the performers are waving long ribbon wands, while others have pinwheel-style attachments on their backs.

Chip and Dale are walking together in their new 70th anniversary jumpsuits, also as seen in the band march.

As previewed in the official concept art for The Celebrate Happy Cavalcade, Mickey along with Minnie, Pluto, and Donald are riding on a repainted version of the same multi-tiered float used in several previous parades. This float has been seen in both the Disney 100 Cavalcade and the Mickey and Friends Halloween Cavalcade, though it originally appeared in Mickeys Soundsational Parade from 2011-2019. For the 70th anniversary celebration, the float has been painted in shades of pink, purple, blue, and gold to match the event colors.

The float has gold railings and a large diamond sign with the “70 Celebrate Happy” logo.

While there are no more floats after Mickey and his friends, the cavalcade concludes with a few more characters walking behind them. This group includes the Genie, Aladdin, Pinocchio, Geppetto, Peter Pan, Miguel, Captain Hook, Alice, and Mary Poppins.

These characters are wearing their regular meet and greet outfits, but they are holding new wands with ribbons in pink, purple, and blue.
Today, May 14, is considered a soft opening or dress rehearsal for the new cavalcade. The Celebrate Happy Cavalcade will officially debut on May 16 and travel along the regular Disneyland parade route twice daily.
Other new or returning entertainment offerings at Disneyland Resort for the 70th anniversary include a new “World of Color Happiness” nighttime spectacular with a Muppets pre-show and a short projection show on the Carthay Circle Theater facade called “Celebrate Happy – A Little Touch of Magic.”
