‘Jaws’ Ride Skippers Interacting with Guests for Film’s 50th Anniversary at Universal Studios Florida

As a part of the many “Jaws” 50th anniversary celebrations currently taking place at Universal Studios Florida, Team Members acting as attraction skippers are now wandering the themed “Little Amity” area.

‘Jaws’ Skippers Interacting with Guests

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of “Jaws,” the San Francisco area of Universal Studios Florida has been transformed into Little Amity. The land is based on the real Amity section of the park that was demolished to make way for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley in 2012. As seen in our photo tour, the area has been decorated like an outdoor Fourth of July celebration with patriotic decor, temporary food booths, and unique photo ops.

One of these photo ops is shaped like a white boat with red and blue stripes. This boat is not intended to be a reference to the movie, but rather the now-gone “Jaws” attraction that used to be located in Universal Studios Florida. The painted backdrop behind the boat shows the seats of the attraction vehicle and the animatronic shark popping out of the water on the right side.

To help guests re-live the fun of the attraction, Team Members acting as the “Jaws” skippers are now wandering Little Amity. These Team Members are wearing the skipper costume for the defunct ride: jeans and a blue “Amity Boat Tours” shirt. They also have a black radio speaker similar to the ones used to narrate for passengers on the boat vehicles. While each interaction will be different, we have seen these skippers doing the complete ride spiel, taking pictures for guests in the area, and making jokes.

For example, our skipper mentioned, “We had a shark sighting today,” and made jokes about “Sharks are getting picked up by tornadoes now!” He also made a small reference to the closed attraction as he searched for his boat, which he said “went missing 13 years ago.”

We also confirmed that one of the Team Members was actually a “Jaws” attraction skipper when the ride was still in operation.
