Jon Bernthal to Reprise Role as Punisher for ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’

Marvel has confirmed that Jon Bernthal will reprise his role as Frank Castle/The Punisher for “Spider-Man: Brand New Day.”

“Brand New Day” is the fourth installment of the joint Marvel-Sony Spider-Man film franchise, following “No Way Home” (2021). Bernthal has been portraying Punisher since the Netflix “Daredevil” series, which was originally exempt from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Though the series itself isn’t considered canon, Disney did take many characters and plot points for the sequel series “Daredevil: Born Again.” Bernthal appeared as Punisher in that series as well.

He also reprised the role in Netflix’s “Luke Cage” and “The Punisher.” Bernthal has also already been confirmed to star in (and write for) a currently untitled Punisher television special that will follow the events of “Daredevil: Born Again.”

“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” is set to answer the question of what Peter Parker is up to now that the world has forgotten him and Spider-Man. Though they parted ways (due to the memory loss from Doctor Strange’s spell), Zendaya and Jacob Batalon are rumored to return for the new film as MJ and Ned respectively. Sadie Sink was also recently cast in the movie.

Jon Bernthal’s Punisher will join Tom Holland and the crew in “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” when it premieres in theaters on July 31, 2026.
