Lobby of The Hall of Presidents Reopens at Magic Kingdom, Show Remains Closed Following Trump Update

The main lobby for The Hall of Presidents at Magic Kingdom Park has officially reopened, though the actual show remains closed following the inauguration of President Trump.

The Hall of Presidents at Magic Kingdom has been closed since January 20, 2025. This was an anticipated renovation of the theater that always takes place when a new president is inaugurated, as the latest animatronic has to be installed and placed closer to the front for the updated show.

With Donald’s Trump’s election win in 2024, he will likely become the first animatronic moved back to the middle of the stage after being shifted to the sides. Trump is only the second president to be elected for two non-consecutive terms, and the first since the opening of The Hall of Presidents, so we don’t know if Disney will reuse his prior recording or request a new one. Of course, there have also been rumors for years that Disney might remove the speaking role of the active president altogether.

Cast Members stationed inside The Hall of Presidents confirmed that the show is not expected to open later today, but they wanted guests to be able to experience the refreshed exhibits and enjoy some cool air during the Florida summer.

The lobby is decorated with portraits of previous presidents, such as this wall with Presidents James Monroe, Franklin D. Roosevelt, and Jimmy Carter.

The rest of the lobby space is lined with brown display cases filled with historical memorabilia, including personal items, letters, and photographs.

A Cast Member told us that one of the only major changes to the items in the lobby was the addition of this picture, which shows President John Kennedy with his daughter Caroline and her horse Macaroni, known as Mac for short. This picture, originally taken in 1962, shows Mac standing in the Rose Garden just outside the Oval Office.

The props in the remaining cases are unchanged from the last major refurbishment of the space, though everything has been cleaned and the furniture has been touched-up.

While The Hall of Presidents is mostly focused on presidents, as one would expect, there are also some nods to Walt Disney and his connection to American history. One of Walt’s wishes when planning Magic Kingdom was to have a completed show with animatronics of all the presidents, as a step up from his previous “Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln” show in Disneyland Park.

Rumors are suggesting that the lobby of The Hall of Presidents is being opened because the new show is nearly complete. Reopening in June would make the turnaround time approximately 5 months, which is significantly shorter than the previous turnaround time of 11 months for President Trump’s first term and around the same timeframe of 6 months for the addition of President Biden.
