PHOTOS: President Biden Animatronic and Props Added to Hall of Presidents, Reopening in August

Disney has just announced that The Hall of Presidents will reopen in August. The opening day attraction has been closed since January to add President Joe Biden to the stage, and a first look at the new animatronic has been shared.

Since opening day of Magic Kingdom Park in 1971, The Hall of Presidents has brought to life the heritage of the United States and shared the symbolic importance and uniqueness of the office of the President. Almost 50 years later, the story of liberty’s leaders continues to be told and retold to new generations as Walt Disney originally envisioned.

For the past few months, work has been underway to add President Joe Biden to the stage as the 46th President of the United States. As Disney Imagineers are putting the final touches on the show, which will debut to guests in August, we’re sharing a behind-the-scenes look at the latest update.

Just as Walt envisioned, creative teams have been busy programming an Audio-Animatronics replica of the President, pairing it with a delivery of the presidential oath of office recorded at the White House by President Biden himself just for the attraction. Every detail comes together to create a realistic and symbolic glimpse into the office of the President through the years, from the carefully tailored clothing to the props, documents and furniture placed throughout the stage. Next time you visit, you may notice the table next to President Biden is adorned with a few special items, each with their own significance to the President—including peach blossoms to represent his home state of Delaware and a pair of aviators as a nod to his proclivity for the sunglasses.

And for those who are curious about what happens to presidents at The Hall of Presidents after their term has ended, the Audio-Animatronics figure of former President Donald J. Trump will take its place on stage among those who have previously served.

  1. Biden’s animatronic looks pretty good. They really need to take the time now and replace the one of Jon Voight.

    • I know how you feel. I won’t be among the first to see it either, since I’m not going til next year, dang it. But not to worry. You’ll still have 4, possibly 8, years to make it there. Stay positive, friend!

  2. Looks really good and I like the touch of the things in the table. I’m looking forward to see what the new show is.

  3. Don’t bolt him in too tight. Multiple state audits are going to show that he lost the election.

  4. Certainly took long enough. Seeing the final rendition; I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

  5. It’s interesting to me that Disney seems to be making a special point of the fact that the Trump animatronic will be included, as if that fact wouldn’t already be obvious to anyone who understands the basic concept and overall purpose of this show. Was there some doubt regarding its inclusion? If so, I don’t remember seeing any news about that, unless it just escaped my radar somehow. Meanwhile, I think the addition of the props would make a nice tradition for each new animatronic, going forward.

  6. Not standing in line to see sleepy, creepy, hair sniffing, cognitively declining Joe. The Disney “artists” for the Hall of Presidents have really fallen off the rails. The Donald Trump has Hillary Clinton’s face (because Disney was hoping Hillary would win). Now this. It doesn’t really resemble our cognitively struggling commander and chief. Not dazzled by the props, find it annoying. Only CNN would appreciate.
