Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid at Magic Kingdom will close for a brief refurbishment next month.
Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid Refurbishment
The attraction will be closed for routine maintenance beginning on July 21. It is expected to reopen on July 26.
Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid opened as part of the New Fantasyland expansion to Magic Kingdom in 2012. The original version opened a year earlier at Disney California Adventure, where it’s known as The Little Mermaid — Ariel’s Undersea Adventure and replaced “Golden Dreams.” It’s a slow-moving Omnimover that takes guests through the story of “The Little Mermaid” with opening and ending narration by Scuttle.

More “The Little Mermaid” at Walt Disney World

During the closure, guests can continue to meet Ariel at her grotto next to Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid. The meet and greet is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. most days.
Guests can meet the live-action version of Ariel at Walt Disney Presents in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Also at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is the new “The Little Mermaid” show: “The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure.” This replaced “Voyage of the Little Mermaid,” which never reopened after the 2020 COVID-19 shutdown, but is similar to old stage show. After performing continuously for a few weeks, the show now has set performance times. Check out Tom’s honest review of “The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure.”
