In a recent post from Universal Studios Japan, the park’s newest popcorn bucket design has been revealed as a Bob-omb from the Super Mario games.
Bob-omb Popcorn Bucket
As shared on X by Universal Studios Japan, the upcoming popcorn bucket is shaped like the iconic Bob-omb from the Super Mario universe. The bucket is shown has having a round body in black, two orange feet, and a top piece shaped like the wick of a bomb. The top of the wick is burned black instead of white, as though it was already on fire. The overall design is similar to the appearance of a Bob-omb from the more recent Super Mario games..
While difficult to see in the posted photo, the back of the popcorn bucket also has the yellow wind-up key attached to its back. The popcorn bucket appears to come with a white patterned carry strap that features multiple characters from the games.
A translated version of the caption that was added along with the picture reads:
The bomb-like enemy appears in a popcorn bucket!!

Upon turning the wind-up key on its back, the Bob-omb will light up with flashing red lights, as if it will explode.
The Bob-omb popcorn bucket will arrive at Universal Studios Japan starting on June 23. It will be sold exclusively at Pit Stop Popcorn inside Super Nintendo World. A price for the new bucket was not yet revealed.
Some previous popcorn bucket designs for Super Nintendo World have included both the Mario Kart popcorn bucket and the light-up Super Star popcorn bucket. These were joined by the two mushroom power-ups from Super Mario that were released in sipper form.
It has been relatively common for a new popcorn bucket or sipper design for Super Nintendo World to premiere in Universal Studios Japan first. However, Universal Studios Hollywood has often received the same items at its version of Super Nintendo World after a few weeks, so we expect the Bob-omb popcorn bucket will eventually make its way to the United States. With a version of Super Nintendo World also open in Epic Universe, Florida may be getting its own version as well.
