Universal announced the opening date for the Minion Park expansion at Universal Studios Japan, including an “enhanced” version of Illumination’s Villain-Con Minion Blast.
Enhanced Villain-Con Opening With Minion Park Attraction
The Minion Park expansion will open on July 11, 2025, Universal announced on Instagram. The new area will include Illumination’s Villain-Con Minion Blast, which first debuted at Universal Studios Florida in 2023. The Japan version of the attraction is “an exciting evolution” of the original with “new, exclusive content and enhanced gameplay.” The ride is still a moving walkway shooting game, with guests facing off against the Vicious 6.
The expansion also includes the snack stand Evil Eats and retail location Evil Stuff, as well as meet and greets with the Minions in villain cosplays.
Guests spotted construction of Villain-Con at Universal Studios Japan before Universal confirmed the attraction in April.
When Illumination’s Villain-Con Minion Blast opened at Universal Studios Florida, the surrounding Production Central area was transformed into Minion Land. The land took inspiration from Minion Park at Universal Studios Japan.
