The playground at Dumbo the Flying Elephant in Magic Kingdom won’t reopen until “later this year.”
Dumbo the Flying Elephant Playground Refurbishment
The playground was originally scheduled to close in January, but ultimately closed in February. It was then scheduled to reopen in spring 2025, but with the official summer start date just around the corner, Disney has officially delayed the reopening. Here is what the Dumbo the Flying Elephant webpage says now:
The indoor children’s playground in the Dumbo the Flying Elephant queue is closed for refurbishment and is expected to reopen later this year. The attraction will remain open and available during this time.
Construction permits contracted PremUS of Orlando to work on the playground’s flooring and West Coast Netting to update the nets.
The indoor playground debuted when Dumbo the Flying Elephant was moved from the center of Fantasyland to the then-new Storybook Circus mini-land in 2012. A second version of the spinner ride was also constructed, doubling capacity. The playground is within the ride’s queue, so little ones can play instead of standing in line. Their guardians get pagers letting them know when it’s time to ride.
