REVIEW: Two New Mamba Cakes Inspired by the German Fruit Candy Debut at EPCOT

EPCOT has introduced two new cakes inspired by Mamba fruit chews, a candy from Germany. We ventured out to the park to try them both.

A German-style bakery at EPCOT called “Karamell-Küche” welcomes you—don’t miss the Mamba Cakes!

You can find these in Karamell–Küche, located in the Germany pavilion in World Showcase.

We spotted them among the refrigerated caseline of treats inside.

Bags of Mamba chews are also available for purchase inside. Think of them as a more tart, and occasionally sour, version of a Starburst chew.

Mamba Orange Cake – $6.49

A hand holds an orange EPCOT cupcake with cream, sprinkles, and a “Mamba” candy, part of the Mamba Cakes review.

This is a fine treat, but a bit sticky and messy. The cake lacks the tart flavor we know from a Mamba chew, so it fell flat for us. The orange flavor here is very synthetic, which is not great.

The frosting helps balance that out a lot, but in a more dull way. We also didn’t love the vanilla frosting filling in the center.

Mamba Strawberry Lemon Cake – $6.49

The strawberry lemon cake is a bit more enjoyable than the orange cake, thanks to the lemon frosting filling in the center. We prefer it to the vanilla filling of the orange cake.

The tart flavor lends itself to an authentic Mamba experience, which we appreciate.

Overall Thoughts

We would honestly prefer to purchase a bag of Mamba chews over picking up these cakes. They melt and fall apart within 10 minutes of being outside in the Florida sun, and the flavor they offer isn’t worth the mess for us. We don’t recommend you try it, especially if you hate overly synthetic flavors.
