The Walt Disney Archives showed off artifacts like a Figment figure and Rizzo’s Mickey Mouse costume during a presentation at Walt Disney World.
Walt Disney Archives 55th Anniversary Event
D23 hosted the Gold Members-exclusive event at AMC Dine-In Disney Springs 24 on June 22, celebrating 55 years of the Walt Disney Archives. The presentation delved “into the department’s history, and how the group collaborates with partners across the company to safeguard and share the thousands of treasures in its historical collection.”

Ashley Carter shared some pictures of the artifacts brought on stage during the event. These included a Figment figure wearing a yellow sweater and holding a gold pot. This is a version of a figure that appeared on the original Journey Into Imagination.

The Mickey Mouse costume worn by Rizzo for the MuppetVision 3D pre-show was also showcased. MuppetVision 3D at Disney’s Hollywood Studios closed permanently earlier this month.

Speaking of permanently closed — these are nozzles and a bottle of water from the Fountain of Nations, which was the centerpiece of EPCOT until 2019. It was demolished for the park’s reimagining, and was replaced by World Celebration Gardens.
The Walt Disney Archives was established in 1970 “to collect, preserve and make available for research the historical materials relating to Walt and the company he founded.”
