Walt Disney World Roads Experiencing Traffic Jams & Significant Travel Delays Due to Accident

Due to the nearby truck accident on I-4, the roads around Walt Disney World are experiencing traffic jams and drivers may encounter significant delays.

The backups are mostly affecting the southern portion of Walt Disney World property. Drivers attempting to get anywhere on US 192 west of Disney property are essentially being joined by all traffic that would normally be traveling westbound on I-4. World Drive southbound is backed up all the way to EPCOT, while Osceola Parkway traffic towards Animal Kingdom is backed up all the way to World Drive (this is an alternate route to get to US 192 via Sherberth Road).

Some drivers are reporting long delays to get across property. One estimated that traveling to Animal Kingdom Lodge would take 30-45 minutes longer than normal due to the slow pace. Guests are advised to expect travel to take longer than usual for as long as I-4 remains closed.

Westbound lanes of I-4 remain closed, and traffic is being diverted off at exit 62 to World Drive, contributing to the congestion. Essentially all westbound I-4 traffic is being forced to take US 192 to US 27 to get back to I-4 beyond the closure. Florida Highway Patrol reports that the lanes will remain closed for “an extended period.”
