Disney Parks shared a behind the scenes video featuring the Zero to Hero number from the upcoming Hercules stage show on Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Destiny cruise ship.

Hercules Stage Show Preview

The video is introduced by Kevin and Marcel Wilson, the show’s co-directors and choreographers. Filmed at the Disney Cruise Line rehearsal studio in Toronto, it includes clips from a rehearsal performance of Zero to Hero, with the song layered over other behind the scenes looks at costume designs, puppets, and more.

Set pieces that performers move around the rehearsal space include platforms with poles and small staircases. In the polished show, these will likely be decorated. The Muses, in white draped costumes, were seen standing on platforms inspired by Grecian columns.

During the song rehearsal, actors were dressed in color-coded t-shirts instead of final costumes. The Pegasus performer wore a blue shirt and wings, while Hercules was in a red tee. The Muses all wore yellow, and Phil was in green.

Herc does have his golden medallion. The performer wore this during other moments seen in the video when the dancing was not as intense.

The Hades performer, dressed in blue, also wore a wheeled hoop apparatus. This will apparently be covered in his costume, giving it the same billowing effect as seen in the animated film.

Costume concept art shows a fresh take on Hades’ robes. Pain and Panic are in jumpsuits with wings and horns. Phil wears furry overalls and bracers. Meg has a purple toga with one shoulder strap. Costumes are subject to change from concept art to the final show.

The video includes more looks at the larger-than-life Hydra and Titan puppets. Disney Cruise Line previously released a preview of the ice Titan and concept art of the creatures. The Titan puppets use the same exoskeleton technology previously used for The Hulk at Disney California Adventure.

Props in use include a “floating” eyeball and giant scissors held by the Fates. Some of the performers and Hercules have fake swords and shields.

Hercules is a new, Broadway-style stage show created exclusively for the Disney Destiny. It will be performed in The Walt Disney Theatre, along with Disney Seas the Adventure and Frozen: A Musical Spectacular, which debuted on other ships.
In addition to the animated film’s original songs, the show will include Shooting Star, a ballad cut from the film, written by Alan Menken and David Zippel.
After Toronto rehearsals, the cast will head to Germany, where the Disney Destiny is under construction, to practice in the Walt Disney Theatre.
The Disney Destiny will embark on its maiden voyage from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on November 20, 2025.
