In the latest episode of “We Call It Imagineering,” Disney revealed several more details regarding the upcoming nighttime parade “Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away.” In addition to the first look at several floats, an original character, and some original animation, the episode also included a trip to the Costuming Department.

We first saw an early look at the costumes for “Disney Starlight” a few months ago, though the initial reveal only included a single picture of some fabric and not full concept art. At the time, Disney revealed the designers were taking inspiration from the early concept art Mary Blair created for “Cinderella.”

The video has several of the designers standing beside a shimmery blue costume, which they specifically mention will be featured during the Disney Princess section and be worn by one of the Royal Court Dancers. They again mention there is a “little nod to Mary Blair in here” and they are “inspired by dancing through the stars.”

The costume includes a custom galaxy print that will be seen “in many areas” throughout the parade, including both floats and costumes. The lights are embedded on a satin fabric layer, which has the custom-printed layer placed over the top. Another layer of fabric underneath the lights keeps them self-contained, “so the performer does not feel them at all.”

The designer goes on to explain that each light is individually placed, as are the hand-placed rhinestones scattered between the lights across the fabric.

Walt Disney World has also already shared a video of Mickey and his pals wearing their new costumes for “Disney Starlight,” which include shades of blue and shimmery silver.

The latest episode of “We Call It Imagineering” also reveals an original character created specifically for “Disney Starlight,” original animation of a classic character as a nod to a past parade, and the reveal of several floats.

“Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away” will debut in Magic Kingdom on July 20.
