Howdy! Today was a beautiful day, even in the midst of a heat advisory, at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Disney Springs. I started my day by visiting our favorite Disney animals and finished my afternoon in Disney Springs.

Good Morning from Disney’s Animal Kingdom

A large crowd walks toward the Tree of Life at Disney World’s Animal Kingdom, surrounded by lush greenery on a sunny day.

Good morning from a sweltering hot Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The temperature has reached a boiling point with a feels like 108 degrees. Apparently, this will only be getting worse over the weekend, so my advice? Pack lots of fans, drink lots of water, find shade, wear sunscreen, bring a UV fan for when you are stuck in the sun, and again, drink WATER.

That heat exhaustion will absolutely sneak up on you. Especially when you are having fun.

Fresh Ninties Finds

Riverside Depot at Disney World displays a denim jacket and navy-striped Mickey Mouse rugby shirt inside Animal Kingdom.

I found a new striped shirt and denim jacket in Riverside Depot this morning. I loved the nostalgic nineties style of both, with embroidered Walt Disney World and Mickey art. The shirt is available for $59.99, and the denim jacket is available for $119.99.

Are you a fan of these returning styles? Let me know in the comments below.

Animal Friends

Four Animal Kingdom zoo photos: Abdim’s stork sign, storks in enclosure, Galápagos tortoise sign, and tortoise resting.

I had to say good morning to my favorite animal friends. I was surprised to see that the Adim’s Storks still have not rebuilt a nest. Perhaps they are just taking a break from the whole rebuild. The Giant Galapagos Tortoises were very active this morning. Look at how cute that giant guy is!

Pandora Sign Returns, But For What?

Three photos: a warning sign about animals at Animal Kingdom, a blue crab statue, and a lush pond with greenery.

Don’t let the returned sign fool you. I stood at this fence for a solid five minutes waving my arms like a doggon weirdo and nothing happened. So spare yourself the embarrassment and judgment for now. I will let you know when the water feature actually works again.

Gorilla Falls

After that cringy moment of waving around like a weirdo, I hid in Gorilla Falls. Oh, to be a Disney Animal in my next life. That gorilla is just having breakfast, which was made for him by a freaking waterfall. I have never been so jealous of a gorilla before.

If you could come back in another life as an animal at Disney World, which would you choose? The tigers have a pretty good setup over in the jungle trek.

Maharaja Jungle Trek

In the Maharajah Jungle Trek, I was totally entertained by the bats eating breakfast. When I stopped to check in my friend, Milkyway the skink, I was surprised to see a different face. This is apparently her son, Banjo.

I ARE SMART

I have noticed that I slow my walk when I pass through Dinoland U.S.A. these days. I am likely just taking it all in before it disappears altogether. There are still a few magnets and bottles available for the extinction of the DINOSAUR attraction.

Today, I wanted to highlight a part of the Restaurantosaurous facade. This camper has “I ARE SMART” attached on the back. Every time I’ve come here since I was a kid, I remember giggling at it like it’s the first time I’ve seen it. It’s the little things for me, obviously.

Sleepy Southern Belle

A Southern Giant Anteater sign and close-up photos at Animal Kingdom, Disney World, show it lying among green plants.

When I was leaving Disney’s Animal Kingdom, I had to check in on my favorite southern belle, the Southern Giant Anteaters. I can’t tell Callie and Annie apart, but one of them was definitely getting a snooze in this afternoon.

Most of the animals are napping or hiding in the shade because even though they may not watch the weatherman on the news, they know it is HOT.

Disney Springs Shopping Spree

Collage of Disney World's outdoor shopping area with a fountain, signpost, stone structure, and people under an archway.

When I arrived at Disney Springs, I noticed that although the spinning wheel has not returned, a box has disappeared to reveal a new directional sign. All very exciting. There are a lot of small refurbishments in progress here at Disney Springs.

Cinderella is missing from the front of World of Disney, the awning has been replaced with decals and banners at another entrance of World of Disney, and Mr. Potato Head is missing from the entrance of Once Upon a Toy.

NEW First Order Pins

Six images show Star Wars First Order pins and a store exterior at Disney World’s Hollywood Studios.

There is a new series of First Order open-edition pins. I love the AT-AT the most. Let me know in the comments below if you would buy any of these new pins. The pin set is $22.99; all the singular pins are available for $12.99 each.

Refreshments and Snacks Kiosk Upgrades

A blue refreshment kiosk with people nearby at Disney World’s Animal Kingdom, set outdoors on a sunny day with trees around.

When I was heading up to the World of Disney and Disney’s Pin Traders, I found a newly-designed kiosk offering more shade. I love how clean and nice this looks, while still being able to easily move this to a different location. Plus, anything with shade right now is more than welcome.

Most Magical RESTOCK!

Mickey and Minnie Mouse statues and a Toy Story pin are shown side by side at Disney World.

Holy Heck! RESTOCK! The Most Magical Place on Earth collection sold out on Tuesday, so quickly, but Disney’s Pin Traders restocked one of the limited edition pins from the series. The Woody and Buzz pin was in short supply this afternoon, but available for $24.99.

‘Nightmare Before Christmas’ Collection Continues

A collage shows Nightmare Before Christmas merchandise at Disney World: plushes, pins, and green Oogie Boogie earrings.

My last stop was the most chaotic of all, World of Disney. There was a ton of new merchandise, but some of my favorite pieces are: the 13 Days Countdown featuring plushies from The Nightmare Before Christmas available for $159.99, the magnet with the Haunted Mansion in the background (or at least that’s what it looks like to me, not Disney World mansion, but Disneyland), and finally the Oogie Boogie earrings for $19.99.

I hope you enjoyed our day around Disney’s Animal Kingdom and in Disney Springs.

Let me know in the comments below if you had a favorite moment from today’s adventure. I most enjoyed being around the animals, as always, but especially loved seeing the little anteater napping in the shade.
