In a new update to the story of the missing Mr. Potato Head statue in Disney Springs, the statue’s former location is now covered by a large gray box.
Mr. Potato Head Statue Missing

As we first reported last week, the statue of Mr. Potato Head that usually stands outside Once Upon A Toy in Disney Springs has disappeared. The statue, which shows Mr. Potato Head as he appears in the Toy Story films, usually stands in front of the column on the left side of the building, across from Buzz Lightyear, as seen in the above image taken prior to his disappearance.

Last week, the statue was unexpectedly removed, and the pedestal was surrounded by some standard black stanchions. Placed in the middle of the pedestal was a single potted plant. However, barely a week after the appearance of the plant, this location has been changed once again.
New Gray Box Over Former Statue Location

Now when approaching Once Upon A Toy, guests will see a large gray box standing on the left side of the entrance.

The new box covers over the entire pedestal, blocking it from guest view. The potted plant that was previously sitting in this area has presumedly been removed.

The box includes a gray sign saying “Please Pardon Out Appearance, Something New is Coming Soon.”
Disney has not made any formal announcements about changes coming to Once Upon A Toy, so it is possible Mr. Potato Head has simply been removed for a refurbishment. The Cinderella statue standing by one entrance to World of Disney also disappeared earlier this month, though it returned after less than one week. Nonetheless, it is fairly standard for these outdoor statues to receive regular refurbishment to repair any damage and touch up faded paint.
