Test Track Crash – Vehicle Reportedly Hits Doors During Cast Member Previews

A Test Track ride vehicle reportedly struck doors that failed to open in time during Cast Member previews of the updated EPCOT attraction.

Reportedly, a Test Track car hit the doors of the ride’s climactic scene during a preview on Monday, June 30, 2025. The doors are made of breakaway foam in case of this exact incident. Once they slide open, riders are transported outside for the track portion of the attraction.

Following the Test Track accident, Disney is currently leaving the doors open, which we confirmed during another preview on Wednesday. We don’t know how long the doors will remain open. Cast Member previews are ongoing for another week, followed by Annual Passholder, Disney Vacation Club, Golden Oak, and Club 33 previews (park reservations are already at capacity for the first day for Annual Passholders). The ride officially opens on July 22, and will change the Lightning Lane Multi Pass lineup slightly.

New Ride POV Video Before Test Track Crash

Our video below — taken during a Monday preview before the incident — shows how the doors are supposed to slide open as vehicles approach. See the moment at approximately the 5:40 timestamp.

The doors not only make for a more dramatic moment as guests race towards them and then enter the outdoor track, but also mitigate sunlight that would affect the projected visuals in the room.

Test Track opened at EPCOT in 1998 as a replacement for opening-day Omnimover ride World of Motion. Infamously, Test Track had a difficult testing period, with a car even flying off the tracks (the car was filled with sandbags and had no riders) and hitting a wall.
