After debuting Friday with the second-biggest opening day of the calendar year, The Fantastic Four: First Steps has now stretched to an $118 million opening weekend.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps Box Office Numbers

According to Variety, The Fantastic Four: First Steps earned $57 million from 4,125 theaters across Friday and preview screenings. Based on those numbers, that makes the new film the second-biggest opening day of the calendar year behind A Minecraft Movie, which earned $57.11 million on its opening day.
The film also edged out DC Studios’ Superman, which premiered two weeks ago at $56.1 million on opening day.

As of today, the new Marvel film has risen to $118 million in box office numbers over the weekend, averaging slightly ahead of its expected $100 million to $110 million expected earnings. These weekend numbers rank the film as the year’s fourth largest domestic debut behind the following films:
- A Minecraft Movie at $162 million
- Lilo & Stitch at $146 million
- Superman at 125 million
While Superman has grossed $289.5 million domestically and $502.7 million globally in its two weeks, the rival film saw a “57% decline from its prior outing,” per Variety.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps

The Fantastic Four: First Steps officially premiered in theaters on July 25, 2025. The film is set in an alternate, 1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic universe. Marvel’s first family must “balance their roles as heroes with the strength of their family bond” as they defend Earth from “ravenous space god” Galactus.
The is directed by Matt Shakman, produced by Kevin Feige, and executive produced by Louis D’Esposito, Grant Curtis, and Tim Lewis. Leading the cast is Reed Richards / Mr. Fantastic (Pedro Pascal), Sue Storm / Invisible Woman (Vanessa Kirby), Ben Grimm / The Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), and Johnny Storm / Human Torch (Joseph Quinn).
In a surprise for Disney Parks fans, the film includes a reference to Tomorrowland in Disneyland Park with the song Nation on Wheels from the Disneyland PeopleMover playing during one of the scenes.
