Deathly Afraid Necklace Now Available for Halloween Horror Nights 2025 Guests Who Want Less Scares

Following its announcement earlier this week, the Deathly Afraid necklace that offers a less intense Halloween Horror Nights experience for guests is now available for purchase.

A crowd of people walk past the entrance to a Universal Studios store on a sunny day, eager to check out the latest Halloween Horror Nights merchandise inside.

We found the Halloween Horror Nights Deathly Afraid Necklace for sale in the Universal Studios Store in CityWalk, though they will likely be found at other locations at Universal Studios Florida.

A display sign gives a short description of how the necklace works for guests who would prefer not to be scared (though it does not work in the haunted houses).

The lanyard is mostly black with red accents and has several light-up components.

The medallion portion features a scull and crossbones surrounded by red splatter, with “Deathly Afraid” printed above it in white and red.

“Deathly Afraid” is also printed on the portion that holds the lanyard ends clasped together; this is likely the location of the battery. The lanyard features the Halloween Horror Nights wordmark.

Here’s a look at the lanyard in action with its light-up feature activated. All lights on the lanyard glow a bright red.

There are lights in the lanyard straps, the “Deathly Afraid” battery pack, and the medallion itself.

Wearing this necklace during Halloween Horror Nights will reduce any direct interactions with scareactors in common areas and scare zones, but won’t guarantee a scare-free experience. This marks the first time that Universal has offered a “no boo” option for Halloween Horror Nights guests.
