Food:

Lyla’s Temper Tantrum Tendies – $10.99

Chicken tendies with choice of: Mesquite BBQ ranch with bourbon BBQ dip or Garlic Parmesan with spicy marinara sauce

A hand holds a tray of fried chicken tenders with dipping sauce in a colorful food truck booth.

There are two varieties of the chicken tender dish for the same price. We tried both, and started with the BBQ version.

We felt the breading was a little too thick and gave the chicken a mass-produced feel. Said chicken was also overcooked. The sauce was distinctive and strong with sweet and tangy notes to add a little spicy smoke flavor.

Rating out of 7: 3

Hand holding a cardboard tray of fried chicken tenders from a food truck with grated cheese and red dipping sauce.

The other option for the chicken tenders is garlic parmesan.

Considering these are made with the same chicken, these are a huge improvement. The garlic parmesan sauce softened up the hard breading, and the spicy marinara went great with the dish. Definitely get these over the BBQ version.

“Mom., Cut the Crust Off” PB&J – $7.99

Fried PB&J, hot maple syrup, chili flakes

A fried pastry on a plate with syrup, held up in a restaurant with a Simpsons mural, like a scene from a food truck.

This is a deep fried, strawberry-filled Uncrustable that seems like it was left in old oil for too long. The chili flavor was barely detectable and did not help with the greasy coating it left in our mouths.

Beverages:

Blood Orange Screamsicle – $14 for 12 oz. single serving

360 Vodka Madagascar Vanilla, blood orange syrup and lemonade

A hand holds a pink drink with citrus, served in the vibrant, cartoon-themed Dolls Food Truck restaurant.

While we like vanilla vodka, this drink is extremely sweet. Some will really like it, but we felt the sweetness factor was taken maybe a step too far. It looks nothing like the picture, and we didn’t really taste blood orange either.

Toy Box Cider – $14 for 12 oz. single serving

Fireball Cinnamon Whisky, lime juice, cinnamon, ginger and black sugar syrups with sparkling apple cider and a gummy bear garnish

A fizzy drink with ice and gummy candies in a clear plastic cup from a colorful food truck on an orange tabletop.

This was easily the best item offered at the Dolls food truck, and we really loved this. The playful and fun presentation mixed really well with the balanced flavors. You get the whisky, but also a soft kick from ginger and cinnamon. There was nothing overpowering, and it was very drinkable.
