Crews have torn down more of the Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit track at Universal Studios Florida. The ride closed permanently this past weekend.
Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit Demolition
Though construction began on the land around Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit in June, the ride’s final day of operation was August 17. Within a few days, we saw pieces of track removed from the coaster. Now, an entire loop is missing.
The ride’s final loop used to be in this area. It carried guests up to a drop before the ride’s end. The track now cuts off near the ground. There’s a NorthStar excavator nearby for moving dirt.
The rest of the ride appears to be intact, although there’s a large crane near the back of the coaster.
Universal stated Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit was closing to make way for a new experience, but hasn’t announced specifics. There are rumors that they could build a new multi-launch roller coaster by Intamin. Construction walls in Universal Studios Florida reference Ghostbusters, Back to the Future, and Fast & Furious, fueling rumors that the new attraction could be based on one of those franchises. A permit called for a two-story building in the Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit site.
