New Permit for Construction at Space Mountain Entrance in Magic Kingdom

A construction permit hints at new theming at the entrance to Space Mountain in Magic Kingdom.

The Notice of Commencement contracts MLC Theming, Inc. for “General Construction” at 4950B N World Dr. The address corresponds to the Space Mountain entrance/exit building, rather than the actual show building.

Filed on August 11, 2025, the permit expires in one year on August 11, 2026.

MLC Theming’s specialties include “scenic painting and aging of structures, fabricating facades, carving rock work.” Their portfolio mostly showcases rock work and themed structures.

Earlier this year, MLC was listed on a permit for work at The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure theater in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. They were also contracted for unknown work on The Haunted Mansion at Magic Kingdom — possibly related to recent signs of work that may be related to the Frontierland Cars expansion.

Speaking of Frontierland, MLC was also hired for work at Frontier Trading Post last summer. Nothing ever came to be at the pin store, so it’s more likely MLC was working on the adjacent McKim’s Mile House Disney Vacation Club lounge.

The Space Mountain permit could be for something as simple as a sign, but it’s not clear from the filing.
