The Seas Debuts New SeaBase Aquarium Sign Above Gift Shop in EPCOT

After weeks of rumors fueled by the presence of a scrim, The Seas With Nemo & Friends has debuted a new SeaBase Aquarium entrance sign.

As we first reported in early June, scrims were added to the exterior of The Seas, specifically on the roof overhang near the gift shop entrance. At the time, it was unclear if the roof was undergoing regular maintenance, or if a new fixture was being added. As a curved shape began to appear beneath the scrim in early July, rumors emerged that Disney was adding a new sign to this entrance.

As of August 3, all of the scrims in this section have been removed, revealing a brand-new sign over this gift shop entrance. The sign is a curved wave shape with an outer edge that blends into the nearby tan building.

The sign itself is blue, with a subtle wave pattern in green and purple. Green and red fish swim on either side of large white text saying “SeaBase Aquarium.”

The style of this new sign matches the updated sign for the nearby Coral Reef Restaurant, which debuted at the end of June.

For comparison, above is an image taken in 2023 that shows this same entrance area, minus the new signage.

The most likely reason for the new signage is to show guests that these doors can be used to enter the SeaBase Aquarium without the need to ride The Seas With Nemo & Friends. Since these doors lead into the gift shop, some guests think the doors are only intended to be an exit for the attraction. With this new sign, hopefully more guests will stop by to say hello to the manatees and all of the other amazing sea animals.

In other news from The Seas, the diver lock-out chamber demonstrations have officially returned after nearly five years.
