You Can Eat an Evil Mr. Cupcake From Five Nights at Freddy’s for HHN 2025

Five Nights at Freddy’s is coming to Halloween Horror Nights 2025, and at Universal Orlando, you can eat an Evil Mr. Cupcake before the event has even begun.

This little guy wasn’t available yesterday when we had the Mr. Cupcake Macaron, Chica Chocolate Cookie, and Freddy Fazbear Caramel Apple. But when we spotted them this morning, we had to grab one.

The Mr. Cupcake cupcake is cute in a creepy sort of way. Of all of the fondant-covered treats we’ve had this week (and it’s been a lot — Universal could lay off the fondant, please), this was the best, which isn’t saying much. It had a little bit of sweetness, rather than the blandness of the other offerings, and it was softer.

It also really, really smells like Play-Doh. It’s so off putting, we almost didn’t want to try it, because it looks like salt dough and smells like salt dough, and we were not in the mood to eat salt dough. Luckily, it doesn’t taste like much at all, and definitely not like Play-Doh.

A half-eaten cupcake with white and pink frosting, like Evil Mr. Cupcake from Five Nights at Freddy's, sits on a napkin.

Beneath the fondant is a heap of vanilla buttercream, which was decent. It was sweet, but not overly so, and pairs well with the cherry filling. The filling is as if they smashed maraschino cherries and piped them into the middle, and it’s the best part of the cupcake.

It also has a really neat, bloody, fleshy appearance when you cut the cupcake in half, which we found fitting, since when Mr. Cupcake turns evil, he starts eating people.

(And yeah, maybe saying the cupcake looks like it has flesh inside it doesn’t sound appealing, but hey. It’s Halloween Horror Nights. We’re gonna eat grosser-looking stuff than this.)

Unfortunately, neither the buttercream nor the cherries can save the dry, crumbly vanilla cake. It’s bland and disappointing. The cupcake makes for a cool photo, but we wouldn’t spend $9 on this again. Instead, we’d go for the Mel’s Die-in Tart (stay tuned for that review!).
