Walt Disney World has added physical gates to the tapstile entrances of EPCOT again.
EPCOT Entrance Gates

We first noticed gates installed in mid August. Less than two weeks later, Disney had removed the gates. They returned and are now on both sides of the entrance plaza.

Though most of the entryways were not operating on Tuesday morning, the gates were still “open.” Instead, ropes blocked the way into the park.

There’s a pair of gates at each entryway, in front of the tapstiles. When open, they can be secured against each other. When closed, they would completely block the walkway. They have triangular designs.
We don’t know exactly why Disney has added the gates (or why they were removed and then reinstalled), but it may be to prevent accidental entry or sneaking into the park. The gates are a more solid blockade than ropes or stanchions.
So far, there are only gates at EPCOT, not any of the other Walt Disney World theme parks.
