From now until September 15, HamiKuma will be performing, meeting guests, and being honored with specialty merchandise and food at Universal Horror Unleashed in Las Vegas.

The popular mascot is performing a similar stage show to that in Universal Studios Japan. Specialty food and drink is also available. The addition was announced on the Universal Horror Unleashed account on X.

Earlier this summer, Universal Studios Japan stated HamiKuma would expand to other Universal Destinations & Experiences starting this fall, but did not share exact locations or other details. Earlier this year, we reported on rumors that HamiKuma would appear at HHN at Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando Resort, sparked by Universal trademarking the bear’s name in North America.

Officially, Horror Unleashed Las Vegas is the only place where guests can meet HamiKuma. He was briefly seen at Universal Studios Hollywood, but the meet and greet was only for members of the media.

According to his backstory, HamiKuma was a side show act in a traveling circus, but his fellow performers became jealous of his popularity. They also believed the rumor that he wasn’t a real bear, so they slashed open his belly to expose who or what might be inside. To cover their tracks, they burned down the big top, killing HamiKuma.

In the afterlife, the parasitic demon Death Bringer worked his way into HamiKuma’s belly, and they returned to the surface. Though HamiKuma gained eternal life, his soul was left behind.

The creepy bear HamiKuma has made his U.S. merchandise debut with a new collection now available at Universal Studios Florida for the first time.
