Tokyo Disney Resort Unsure About Restarting Annual Pass Program

Oriental Land Company hasn’t decided whether or not to resume the Tokyo Disney Resort annual pass program.

OLC Representative Director, President, and COO Wataru Takahashi told the Nikkei that “we cannot decide (at this point) to restart” and indicated bringing back the program would lead to operational changes.

OLC suspended the resort’s annual pass program in 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, they have also limited the number of guests in each theme park daily. If they brought back annual passes, they would have to allow more guests in the park.

Instead of increasing capacity, the company has been focused on improving visitor satisfaction by reducing crowds. Takahashi said that average customer spending has increased, helping to counter-balance fewer ticket sales.
